Come and See
Chapter 8 of the Gospel of John
Part iv
The Oneness of God
I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me. (John 8:18)
Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. (John 8:19)
These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come. (John 8:20)
Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. (John 8:21)
Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come. (John 8:22)
And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. (John 8:23)
Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning. (John 8:25)
I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him. (John 8:26)
They understood not that he spake to them of the Father. (John 8:27)
Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. (John 8:28)
And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him. (John 8:29)
♦
Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men. (Psalm 66:5)
For I [know] their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory. (Isaiah 66:18)
♦
He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about tenth hour. (John 1:39)
And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see. (John 1:46)
And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. (John 11:34)
♦
Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether IÂ come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; (Philippians 1:27)
♦
And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. (Revelation 6:1)
And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. (Revelation 6:3)
And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. (Revelation 6:5)
And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. (Revelation 6:7)

The Oneness in Creation
——♦ ——
The Oneness of the Godhead is a truth that the Holy Spirit has related to us in Colossians Chapter 2, verses 8 – 10. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (Colossians 2:8) For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. (Colossians 2:9) And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: (Colossians 2:10)
In the gospel of John, Chapter 8, as we examine the words of the Lord Jesus Christ, we see that the Godhead, speaks of Himself and of the Father, and remember, that the words that the Lord Jesus Christ spoke was Spirit and Life. However, we see (through the entire gospel of John) a witness of the Godhead, and the Oneness of God. This Oneness, according to Colossians Chapter 2, was in its fullness in the manifestation of the Godhead in Jesus Christ. The very One who was called Emmanuel,  was the very Person of God with us.
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)
And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach [even] to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel. (Isaiah 8:8)
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. (Matthew 1:23)
And within Him was ALL the fullness of the Godhead bodily. We behold the Oneness in its fullness in the only begotten Son who is in the bosom of the Father. We see the work of the Son as given of the Father, and the work of the Father in unity with the Son.
But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. (John 5:17)
Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. (John 5:18)
Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. (John 5:19)
For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. (John 5:20)
The manifestation of the Son of God was not only for the children of Adam, but it was also for the host of heaven as well. The angels rejoiced at the manifestation of the Son of God: and the unity of the Godhead that would be declared among mankind, and be revealed (through His manifestation on earth) through the revelation of His complete knowledge and presence of His Father in heaven.
Remember that in John Chapter 4, the Lord proclaimed ‘God is a Spirit.’ God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24) In this portion of Scripture, we fail to grasp that this is GOD describing Himself to this woman of Samaria. This is the gift of God come down from heaven to be the Savior of man, and remove them who believe into a realm of the Spirit of Truth.
In the unity of the Godhead bodily, we see the Lord Jesus as God, for God was IN Christ reconciling the world unto Himself. This not only fulfilled the fullness of time, but embraced the past, the present, and the future. The fullness of time, when God sent His Son, fulfilled the counsels of God, and sealed eternity for ALL the redeemed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: (Acts 2:22) Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:(Acts 2:23) The works and miracles that the Lord Jesus performed were the outward manifestation of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit to the children of men. These works and miracles that no one had ever performed sealed the very eternity and witness of that eternity. When the Lord declared Himself the very words that they heard were Spirit and Life, He was not speaking about Webster’s Dictionary. He was speaking about the very breath that preceded from His mouth. Every word that is recorded in the gospel of John is fortified by the words that the Son of God spoke. It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. (John 6:63) The words and breath were Spirit and Life in Christ Jesus, and these words were/are surrounded by the Oneness of God. All through this most wonderful book, the gospel of John, the words of the Spirit were uttered by the Living Word of God, and the Living Word of God was given to us by God the Father.
(John 8:29)
In verse 26 of John 8, I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him. The words that the Lord Jesus spoke were the words of the Father in complete unity with the Son and Spirit. He spoke to the world the very things and words that He heard of the Father.
They understood not that he spake to them of the Father, John 8 verse 27 clarifies that it was the voice of the Father, and in Chapter 1 of the gospel of John, we have that very Word in life form as the manifestation of God to mankind.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1) The same was in the beginning with God. (John 1:2) All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (John 1:3) In him was life; and the life was the light of men. (John 1:4)
This was more than the manifestation of the Eternal Word, it was the proclamation of the Godhead that mankind could not communicate with God except by the revelation and communication of God to man. Man was not looking up to find God, God was looking down to redeem man, and to draw a people unto Himself. The proclamation of the Godhead was and is that in the beginning, He was the beginning, and in the beginning Jesus Christ was with God, and in the beginning, Jesus Christ was God. Thus, in the beginning of the gospel of John, John (by the Holy Spirit) show us the unity and the oneness of the Godhead that this Oneness was with God, and was God, and then the Spirit of God clarifies this Oneness in verse 2. The same was in the beginning with God. (John 1:2) That this same Jesus Christ was in the beginning WITH God, and IN Him was Life — ALL life, embracing His creatorial power, and relating this power to mankind as Light to mankind.

The Eternal Oneness
——♦ ——
Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. (Hebrews 7:16) The power of an endless life did not begin at the birth of the Son of God. The power of this endless life stretches through eternity because this life existed prior to any word of creation. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. (Hebrews 11:3) This verse from Hebrews confirms that the existence of the Word of God existed BEFORE the worlds were framed. It also applies to the Word (both audible and Living) as the Author of things that are seen and the things unseen. For in the realm of the Oneness of God, He spoke out the very words of creation, that it was His Word that made the things that we behold in the world around us, both seen and unseen.
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. (Genesis 1:3) The Lord’s words contained life, when He spoke life came forth. In His word He gave life to the heavens, the hosts that dwell in the heavens, His very kingdom in the realm of heaven, His throne in heaven, all that is above in the unseen was spoken into existence by the Word of His power. When we look up at the sky, we see the great expanse, we see the reflective lights beaming through the darkness down to us as a witness that God spoke them into existence by His Word. One can almost see His breath as it flows across the heavens above as His Word, and this Life and Light was manifested before man, and this life was and is the light of man.
Now I want you to see with eyes wide open in Chapter 1 of the gospel of John, God takes us into His eternity, into His counsels, He opens the door of the unseen, and if we keep this thought open through the gospel of John we will behold a treasure of God’s truth and the things that are unseen. A very simple verse in Chapter 1, verse 17, For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. The Law was given by Moses in contrast to grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. The Law was delivered to the people of Israel by Moses, it was given of God, however, grace and truth CAME by Jesus Christ, thus, showing the pre-existence of God’s grace, that ALL grace and ALL truth were contained in one Being in eternity. And this grace CAME to earth with the Body of God’s truth to shed God’s light to all of mankind. He CAME to earth bearing grace and truth within Himself and manifested this grace and truth in the Person of God’s Son, Jesus Christ.
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, (2nd Timothy 1:9) But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: (2nd Timothy 1:10)
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. (1st Timothy 3:16)
We see in 2nd Timothy that God declares to us the preexistence of grace BEFORE the world began, and this grace resided in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the eternal grace that has been given to us in Christ Jesus BEFORE the world began. And this grace was manifested to us IN the revealing of the Son of God, and the WORD WAS GOD. This was and is our Savior who has abolished death. This is strong language for again, if we open our hearts, souls, and spirit, we will see that we stand in complete newness of life because we are IN His life, and He gave that life to us. Adam is finally dead because there is a new man now, for Christ liveth in me, and has brought life and immortality to light through His gospel. This was the exact message of the Son of God as He declared in John 8, verse 51, Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death. If the Spirit of God works in you, this should emphasize that you will never see death. That you are already part of the immortal God. The Lord Jesus Christ emphasizes this verse with, Verily, verily, Truly, truly, trying to penetrate the dark and unbelieving hearts of the Pharisees who were deliberately there to overthrow His teaching to the Jews. And on this side of the cross today, it is a wonderful message to the child of God. God has declared that you, as a new creation, a new creature in Christ, will NEVER, I repeat the word NEVER, see death. For in Jesus Christ is life, and this life is ETERNAL LIFE. This also brings us into the oneness of God, back into eternity over and over, the Lord proclaimed, ‘the Father has sent me as the Son of God.’ In Luke 1:31, And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS, the Lord’s name CAME from heaven. His very name was brought to earth by the angel Gabriel. This name, Jesus, was already the name above every name. The Son of God would be manifested and be the bearer of the greatest name among mankind, the greatest name in heaven, and the greatest name through all eternity. He would be called the Son of the highest, and to this Son, God would give Him the throne of His father, David. However, He was already the ROOT of David. He had given David life and breath; He had set David upon the throne of Israel and anointed Him with a horn of oil. He Himself would be the offspring of David, and God would anoint the Man Christ Jesus with the oil of gladness above all His fellows, above all mankind, and above the heavens. I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. (Revelation 22:16) This verse is very important, not only in content, but where the Holy Spirit places it. At the end of the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ, in the last Chapter, God uniquely shows us the preexistence of Christ as the root, not only of David, but of the whole Church of God. He reveals to us that this root is the final offspring in His own manifestation as the King of Israel on the throne of David.
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: (Luke 1:32) And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. (Luke 1:33)
This revelation by the Spirit of God not only introduces an eternal King, but an eternal Savior as well. And in His position as Savior of His people, His manifestation is in complete harmony with Isaiah 45:21 and Isaiah 45:15.
Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. (Isaiah 45:21)
Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour. (Isaiah 45:15)
Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any. (Isaiah 44:8)
In these verses from the book of Isaiah, we see the oneness of God, and we also see the oneness of our Savior with God in verse 15, He is the ONLY Savior. Let us expand our view of Isaiah 44:8, from verse 6 to verse 8.
Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. (Isaiah 44:6)
And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them. (Isaiah 44:7)
Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any. (Isaiah 44:8)
The Holy Spirit reveals to us some fine points of our Lord’s manifestation. One of the first things is that God Himself declares Himself as King of Israel which falls in line with the manifestation in Luke Chapter 1 verse 31 through 33. In verse 6 of Isaiah 44, we have the Redeemer as the LORD of hosts, which links us to Isaiah 63.
And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me. (Isaiah 63:5)
In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old. (Isaiah 63:9)
Our God is showing us that HE, as the LORD of hosts, has brought to us His salvation, by His work on the cross of Calvary. In verse 9, He intertwines His deity in the angel of His presence, and this is Christ Himself. This takes us all the way back to the book of Joshua where He reveals Himself as captain of the Lord’s host.
And he said, Nay; but [as] captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant? (Joshua 5:14) And the captain of the LORD’S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest [is] holy. And Joshua did so. (Joshua 5:15)
And who could forget the last psalm in the trilogy of psalms,  Psalm 24 verse 10, when all of creation cries, Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.
Let us go on to Isaiah 44:7 and 8.Â
And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them. (Isaiah 44:7) Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any. (Isaiah 44:8)
In verse 7, the Lord declares that He has set a certain order, that He has appointed the ancient people, showing prior knowledge of them, and also the things that are coming, He will reveal unto them. In verse 8, He is telling the children of God that He has told them these things, and for them to not be afraid, for there is a time and He has proclaimed THAT time, and He is the ONLY God, for besides Him there is no God. This all leads us to Galatians Chapter 4.
But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, (Galatians 4:4) To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. (Galatians 4:5) And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. (Galatians 4:6)

The Titles of Oneness
——♦ ——
Now, if you can allow the Spirit of God to raise up His Oneness in your heart, soul, and spirit, you will see the child that was given was from above, and He was the Son of the most high God. And in the Oneness of God, He was the promise of His Son, of a ‘holy seed’ from God Himself. Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. (Galatians 3:16) Are we seeing the Oneness of God? There is another profound truth found in the book of Isaiah, and this is the combination of the titles of God in Isaiah 9:6.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. (Isaiah 9:7)
All these titles are found in the ‘child’ that was given of God, that ‘holy thing’ sent from heaven, one Being, one God, one Savior, and all the titles and names of God within this one manifestation of God, the name above every name, Jesus Christ. There is something very dangerous today, and it is the separation of the Oneness of God. It is done in many ways: one of the most subtle ways is dividing God by all the divine names that have been given in Scripture. The truth of all these names is that they come together in complete Oneness in the Person of Jesus Christ.
In John Chapter 8, the Lord continues to declare His relationship and Oneness with the Father. This was His teaching to all the Jews who were present. At this point the Jews argued with Him and attempted to pervert His message.
I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.(John 8:18) Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. (John 8:19)
Remember that in the gospel of John, we are dealing predominately with the voice of the Spirit in clarifying the actual words that the Son of God spoke. Therefore, the Son gives a witness of Himself, as the Father had given witness of Him that the Lord Jesus was His beloved Son, in whom He was well pleased. Also, the Father had given a work for the Son of God to complete. This takes in the Lord’s manifestation, His life, His teaching, and His divine work upon the cross of Calvary. Every miracle that the Lord Jesus performed was a witness of the Father to the complete unity of Father, Son and Holy Ghost. The Son (Jesus Christ) completed the work that the Father sent Him to do. The Son of God shows this Oneness with His complete obedience to the Father in both word and deed.
Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not. (John 7:28) But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me. (John 7:29)
As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. (John 6:57)
But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. (John 5:36)
These are just a few verses that show the oneness of the Son of God with the Father and the complete oneness in what the Father gave Him to do. He was in complete obedience, which is also reaffirmed in Hebrews Chapter 10, verses 7 and 9.
Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. (Hebrews 10:7)
Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. (Hebrews 10:9)
In John 8:18, the Lord once again refers to Himself as SENT of the Father. I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me. This is a repeat of verse 16, also notice that the Lord reveals His own presence as being with the Father, and the Father with Him in complete Oneness. In the words I AM not alone showing us or reminding us of the presence of the Father that we beheld in John 5:30, 36, 37,
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. (John 5:30)
But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. (John 5:36) And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. (John 5:37)
These revelations continued to stir up anger and hatred in the Pharisees. In Chapter 5, verse 16, they sought to slay Him. And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. This is truly the heart of Cain, and they were truly children of the devil. So in verse 17 and 18 of John Chapter 8, we have the Lord declaring His immediate Oneness with God His Father, by the Father’s divine presence continually with the Son.
It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. (John 8:17) I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me. (John 8:18)
In Chapter 5 of the gospel of John when the Lord declared His Oneness with the Father, the Jews rightly interpreted His word, for He WAS MAKING HIMSELF EQUAL with God, and with His Father. Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. (John 5:18)
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: (Philippians 2:5)
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:Â (Philippians 2:6)
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:Â (Philippians 2:7)
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. (Philippians 2:8)
The enmity and venom of the Jews have not changed. This same heart of unbelief is alive in the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ today. We have lost sight of the Oneness of God, and the equality of God, and the fullness of the Godhead bodily in Jesus Christ because of the overwhelming majority of unbelievers both in the pulpits and in the pews. Over and over in the gospel of John, the Lord Jesus testified to His Oneness with the Father, and to the very works that the Father gave Him to do. In John Chapter 17, we have a wonderful union in prayer by the Lord Jesus in the presence of His Father in which He proclaimed His Oneness with His Father.
These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: (John 17:1)
As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. (John 17:2)
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (John 17:3)
I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. (John 17:4)
And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. (John 17:5)
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. (John 17:21)
One should always keep in mind the hostility and hatred of the Pharisees and from most of the Jews. They were in a continued effort to kill the Lord. Their conspiracy began in the beginning of the gospel of John until they crucified the Lord of glory. In Chapter 5, we see the venom of the snake, these were the same cars in the parking lot every Sunday, the same group of religious devils meeting with their father the devil, and expressed their unbelieving hearts before God. In verse 21 of Chapter 8, the Lord drops the final curtain on this unbelieving group of Jews, Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. This is the final condition of these Jews, that they will die in their sins, the Lord Jesus again repeats this in verse 24, I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins, and the Lord twice repeats this phrase ye shall die in your sins to emphasize the result of unbelief and denial of who He is.
——♦ ——
The Oneness of THE I AM
——♦ ——
They will die in their sins is in direct relationship with not believing the Lord Jesus Christ. He said for if ye believe not that I am he, you see one of His references to His inner most Person and Authority, that I am he, should be put in all caps for He is referring to His own deity – I AM HE. We need to see the burning bush of Exodus 3:
And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. (Exodus 3:2)
And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. (Exodus 3:3)
And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. (Exodus 3:4)
And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. (Exodus 3:5)
Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God. (Exodus 3:6)
And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? (Exodus 3:13)
And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. (Exodus 3:14)
We need to remember that this name of eternity was given to Moses and with the authority of THIS name, He would go back to the Israelites and deliver them out of the hands of Egypt. If we fast forward to the gospel of John, Chapter 8, we see the burning bush before these Pharisees and Jews. He has just pronounced the sentence, that ye shall die in your sins, if they would not believe in Him. The great I AM had come in the Person, in the manifestation, and in the name Jesus Christ to fulfill the perfect will of God and to manifest His grace to mankind. The great I AM had come in the Person, in the manifestation, and in the name Jesus Christ to fulfill the perfect will of God and to manifest His grace to mankind.
In verse 28 of Chapter 8, He again refers to this title, I AM HE. Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. The word ‘he’ is to emphasize His Old Testament name as I AM, that recognizing Him (Jesus Christ) one must recognize the name I AM in the Person of Jesus Christ. This is all brought to the conclusion in verse 58, Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
(Before Abraham was, I AM). This identifies this Old Testament name with the great God and Savior Jesus Christ as He proclaims this of His own Person that He was BEFORE Abraham. I AM the God of Israel in Isaiah 43, compare verses 11, 12, 15, 25, notice the dominance of the word I both in Isaiah 43 and in John Chapter 8. Compare the pronoun of self-recognition and the positive character of this pronoun, the Lord uses over and over in Isaiah 43:7, in relationship to the new birth, a people that He has called by His name. Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him. In verse 43:7, we have the new birth in being called by the name of the Lord (called by my name), we have the new creation, (I have created him for my glory,) we have our spiritual countenance, I have formed him, and we have His divine power, (I have made him).
Side Note: Compare Chapter 1, verses 12 and 13 from the gospel of John. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (John 1:12) Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:13)
All three forming those who believe in Him for His glory, and to be partakers in Oneness of that glory through His work on Calvary, the place of the skull, or the place of death to bring to pass eternal life to those who believe.Â
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: (1st Corinthians 1:30) That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. (1st Corinthians 1:31)
At this present time those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ are possessors of His glory, for we glory in the Lord. We are made unto God the wisdom of God by He who is ALL wisdom, the Lord Jesus Christ. We are MADE unto Him redemption, we are MADE unto Him sanctification through the mysteries of God He has given the Spirit of Christ into our hearts to fill the water pots of stone with the waters of sanctification FULL to the brim. (John 2) And He has given us the sweetness of the new wine in the Holy Spirit of grace.
For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. (2nd Corinthians 1:20) Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; (2nd Corinthians 1:21) Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. (2nd Corinthians 1:22)
If I were to imagine something that was impossible, I would look at these two verses and say, How is this possible? However, having the Spirit of grace in my own heart confirms this miracle and the wonder of the glory of Christ within. This is truly a wonder to behold, so therefore, we are in His Oneness with the Father by these two verses we claim that same Oneness in Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. And the words of the Lord Jesus confirm this in John Chapter 17, verses 21 and 22.
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. (John17:21) And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: (John17:22)
Now do you see the Oneness of the Godhead and how important this is to us? And the uniqueness is that this Oneness is IN Christ and BY Christ to the glory of God the Father. The Holy Spirit ensures us of the glory of God within. This, the Jews of John Chapter 8, could not comprehend, and today, we have entered into the same realm of unbelief. If the Lord Jesus was among us even today performing His miracles, making His claim as the Son of God, in this world unbelief would prevail over those who believe. Unbelief was so strong in these Pharisees and Jews that they would believe their father the devil, and not the Son of God. According to the Lord Jesus, in His own words, the devil had full sway over them. As Satan entered into the heart of Judas, these Pharisees and Jews had the same father, who was a murderer from the beginning. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44) The devil had convinced his children through lies and treachery. Murder was in their hearts. And previously in John Chapter 5, they sought to kill the Prince of life. Their hearts at this point were full of murder and hate, yet, they still put on a self-righteous show. Outwardly they dressed themselves in fine apparel. Outwardly they offered up prayers. Outwardly they attended every session of the temple, but inwardly they had the heart of ravenous wolves seeking blood and this is the same strife, the same hate, the same murder that we have today in the religious and political worlds. The majority of them know not God, and have no desire to know Him. And this is a great host, as in the days of Noah, we have turmoil all around us both outwardly, and inwardly they hate Jesus Christ. Here in the south, we have a very poisonous snake. It is the water moccasin, whenever they are mating, they form into a ball of many snakes. They are so intense that they even bite each other, and it is certain death if you become tangled up in one of these nests or balls. This is a perfect example of the religious man, and of the political man, they are just one of these snakes in one big ball. If one bites, then many follow. These snakes or devils have brought about the entire ruin of the professing Church, and on the political side, they have ruined every country and nation on this planet. And if they could, they would destroy the heavenly Church, and the city of our God and Savior in heaven above. But thanks be to God, the redeemed are safe in the bosom of the Father. As the Holy Spirit has told us of Christ in John Chapter 1 that the only begotten Son is IN the bosom of the Father. And we, as new born children, are in the only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Our city, our country, our Savior, and His throne are secure in heaven. And we, as the children of God, are secure and safe in the omnipotent power of Jesus Christ. This section of Scripture should comfort you in these last days.
But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, (Hebrews 12:22) To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, (Hebrews 12:23) And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.(Hebrews 12:24)
This heavenly Jerusalem is the city of the Living God. It is secure in the fullness of the Godhead. It is unto Jesus the Mediator of the New Covenant, who is the Author and Finisher of the Church of the saints in heaven. We can boldly say that, We are the Church of the Living God, and the general assembly of eternity in Jesus Christ, His Body of glory and His kingdom is elevated into the heavens above. Our Savior is made higher than the heavens, and at this present time He wants all His children to have their thoughts on things above and not of this world. One must have a mind set to desire Him above everything else. Who loved us and gave Himself for us.

Our Oneness in The Oneness
——♦ ——
In the Oneness of God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) let us consider our own oneness with God, and our position in the spiritual world that He has brought those who believe into. Let us look at Colossians 1:13, 14 and Colossians 3:1-4.
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: (Colossians 1:13) In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: (Colossians 1:14)
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. (Colossians 3:1) Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. (Colossians 3:2) For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:3) When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. (Colossians 3:4)
We should give a lot of spiritual thought to these verses. Notice that the Spirit of God gives us a present reality of being translated into the kingdom of the Son of God. We have been translated from earth into a spiritual world. The evidence of our translation is the awareness of being IN the kingdom of Christ. That the Spirit of Christ has delivered us from the world of flesh and blood to a spiritual world of the unseen. We have been RISEN with Christ so that all our thoughts are around heavenly places. There is a world above in the heavenlies. There is a world around us (the unseen world of the Spirit of God). And all these things are above because we are seated with Christ in the heavenlies. And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:6) I want you to notice that in both Colossians and Ephesians this is not a future reality, but a present reality to the spiritual heart, soul, and spirit. When you read through the book of Ephesians, the Holy Spirit uses the phrase heavenly places, four times, and this phrase heavenly places can only be found in the book of Ephesians.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: (Ephesians 1:3)
Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, (Ephesians 1:20)
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: (Ephesians 2:6)
To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, (Ephesians 3:10)
As in Colossians, in Ephesians these are present realities. These are the blessings that we have acquired, and they belong to us NOW, as well as in the future. Don’t be afraid of your position as a joint heir with Christ, and as a son of adoption. For God has brought us unto Himself THROUGH His Son, and the Supernatural miracle of God has set us in heavenly places with Him. In Ephesians 1:3 we have ALL spiritual blessings in Christ, not one blessing is withheld, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. The words of the Spirit are factual and with complete truth. God the Father will not withhold one blessing from those who are bought with the blood of Christ. The Lord Jesus is sat down at the right hand of God, and we have all spiritual blessings IN Christ. Ephesians 1:3 flows into Ephesians 1:20 (Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places) both in Colossians and in Ephesians we see our unification or oneness in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In Ephesians 2:6 (And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus) we are the children of God, the children of the Father in heavenly places. Our blessings are spiritual in heavenly places with Christ and not of this world. We are raised up together with our blessed Lord. Together in heavenly places joined for all eternity in the unseen world of the Spirit of Christ. And the finality of this wonder is that we may know the manifold wisdom of God as shown in Ephesians 3:10, To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God. The word ‘manifold’ shows us every article and every tentacle and every dispersion of the wisdom of God to us that as the sons of God we may enter into His divine counsels through the Holy Spirit. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? (Hebrews 12:7) This is one of the many ways that God the Father shows His divine counsel to us. This is one of the ways that we do not desire, however, look at the result of this counsel in Hebrews 12:11, Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. The chastening of God reveals the manifold wisdom of God. Search the Old Testament, see the results when God chastened Abraham, when He chastened Jacob, when He chastened and taught Moses in the wilderness, when He took His beloved king, David, and chastened him; see in these men the peaceable fruit of righteousness. Should this be any different today? As children who have been given ALL spiritual blessings in heavenly places should we not be responsible to our standing in Christ? And when the Father needs to chasten us, it will bring forth the peaceable fruit of righteousness.
In both Colossians and Ephesians, we are brought into the very action of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We are raised up TOGETHER with our blessed Lord, and we are raised up TOGETHER in heavenly places. This is the finality of this wonder that resurrection in Jesus Christ is part of His possession of us. We are raised TOGETHER, not separate, and we are raised TOGETHER in heavenly places. And by desiring the things above we drink in the manifold wisdom of God. In Hebrews 12 we saw the divine prerogative of the Father as dealing with His sons, and this is all part of His divine counsel. Just as wellness of body is important to us on earth, the wellness of our spiritual being should give us a desire in our spirit, and mind-set to dwell on things above, and to seek after things above. When we are changed by our creation in Christ, we become part of a divine spiritual world. We have been separated from the tangible world in our new birth. We have entered INTO the realm of angels and saints above, and heaven is a reality in our spirit because the Father sent His Son to bear our sin so that WE might receive our passport to heaven signed in the very blood of the Lamb slain before the foundations of the world. As Christ has been placed higher than the heavens, we find ourselves WITH Him, and we find ourselves glorying in Him. The great expanse of heavenly places is unfathomable to our earthly minds. We can only be blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places by a spiritual heart, soul, and spirit through Jesus Christ our Lord. This concept was foreign to the Pharisees and the unbelieving Jews. They were looking for all earthly blessings and not heavenly blessings. They were looking for an earthly king and not a heavenly King. They would have no part of this One who had come down from heaven. They refused the Son of God. The Lord Jesus left this accusation against them, ye shall die in your sins. This was because of their unbelief.
Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. (John 8:21)
I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. (John 8:24) Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning. (John 8:25)
And after all that they had heard, after all that they had seen, and after ALL the divine testimonies, they asked this One who stood before them. Who art thou? I remember a story that Robert Little told in one of his messages. It was about a servant of God in Tennessee, a pastor, it seems that a young girl had attempted to commit suicide by drinking a caustic solution. As she was dying, she heard the voice of this pastor as he introduced himself to her, and she replied, I heard you preach many times. Desperately the preacher tried to convey the gospel to this dying girl, and her only reply was to weakly say, I have heard you preach many times. This young girl passed away, and the preacher sat there with a broken heart. The words that he heard could not take away the pain that he felt, broken in mind and heart, he could hear her words, I have heard you preach many times. What he wanted to hear was not on her lips, and this changed his preaching from that day forward. Whether we like to admit it or not, when God calls us into His service, every soul who we touch, every meeting that we have, and every message that we preach, precious souls of eternity hang in the balance. From that day forward the pastor preached (no matter the circumstances or the text) he always completed his message with the compelling cry of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the need of every person (young and old) no matter what station of life, or condition, if one has not the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior they will DIE IN THEIR SINS. This was a clear message to the Pharisees.
This is also a clear message for us today that without belief in the Lord Jesus Christ, ye shall die in your sins. In examining the lives of these Pharisees through the gospel of John, we see the tremendous load of sin that they added to themselves. And one of the heaviest sins of all was to place murder in their hearts, (as recorded in John Chapter 19) they cried out, Crucify him, crucify him. Now, these same Pharisees and the rulers of the Jews, and the Jews who would not believe are carrying the burden of their sins in the fires of hell. They had refused the very message from the Son of God, from God the Father, and from God the Holy Spirit. It is the Oneness of God in the fullness of the Godhead bodily who will declare their judgment, the same judgment, that He declared to them in John Chapter 8, ye shall die in your sins. The finality of unbelief does not change with death, sin does not disappear as death rolls over Adam. There is a long line of unbelief. They would not believe in the days of Noah, or at the preaching of Paul, and even today the unbelieving cannot avoid dying in their sins. Consider the weight and the punishment you deserve. For every sin will be accounted for: that little lie, that word of hate, that act of theft, the murder deep within the heart, and an entire lifetime of sin laid upon you for all eternity. And your final surroundings will be the lake of fire, and ye shall die in your sins. The God of mercy and grace was looking directly into the eyes of the Pharisees. This was God’s manifestation of Himself on earth. This was the manifestation of a Savior God. This was the manifestation of the fullness of the Godhead. This was the manifestation of the Son of God. This was the manifestation of Jesus Christ. And without Him there would be no refuge. Without Him there would be no mercy or grace. Without Him (no matter what was said), no matter what the works of men, no matter where one attends, ALL religious meetings are as grass that withers away without the knowledge of Christ in the heart. The Pharisees and the religious person gather around themselves, the redeemed of the Lord gather around the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the only place of refuge. This is the only place of salvation. You can probe and research your Bible all you want to, but without the knowledge of Christ in your heart it is an empty book with meaningless words. The words that the Lord Jesus spoke were Spirit and Life, they would not receive His words because they did not have the Spirit of Christ. The world has not changed for to see all the beauties of Christ in the holy word of God one must have the indwelling Spirit of Christ to see and to behold the spiritual world, the unseen, and the glories of the omnipotent God, Jesus Christ. When God removes sin, it is not just what we have committed, but the very essence of sin that dwells within us. The tree of good and evil, the tree of death is replaced by the tree of life in Jesus Christ our Lord. When God cast our sin away, as far as the east is from the west, we are given a new life, a life that is formed in the righteousness of Jesus Christ. As we have the Spirit of Christ, we have the righteousness of Christ in the divine Man in heaven. He has embraced us (our hearts, soul, and spirit) for He has claimed us as His own. And with His eternal power and Godhead, there is no power within all of creation that can remove us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. In the Lord Jesus we have ONE God, ONE Savior, ONE throne, and ONE Kingdom of God. We, as believers, are not of this world. We have been purified in Christ for a heavenly world in a heavenly Kingdom. We have been created by God to glorify God on earth and in heaven. In our spirit we sing the same anthem as the saints in heaven.
The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, (Revelation 4:10) Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. (Revelation 4:11)
And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; (Revelation 5:9)
And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. (Revelation 5:10)
And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; (Revelation 5:11)
Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. (Revelation 5:12)
And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. (Revelation 5:13)
In the singing of this great anthem there is not one eye turned from He who IS the Almighty God. There is not one thought that does not glorify and magnify the Lamb of God. There is not one musical note that does not resound throughout all eternity. Today, in our hearts, as we ponder the Oneness of God, as those saints who are above in the everlasting arms of the loving Savior, we are joined to them by the Oneness of God. And the sound from above that resounds in our spirit joins us with the saints above in the complete fullness of the Godhead bodily. The everlasting love of God that answers to faith in Christ, when we see all this standing before the Pharisees willing to give them all blessings in heavenly places, yet, they would cast out the Prince of life from the temple. And they will cast out the King of glory out of the world. Yet, they provided refuge within the temple for the money changers, and the sellers of sacrifices, and those who profaned the temple.
These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come. (John 8:20) We notice that the Lord was teaching while in the treasury, this is very profound, for this spoke volumes about the Pharisees and the Jews. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matthew 6:21) Man (in Adam) is directed by the treasures of this world, his heart longs for treasures, and can never be satisfied. Unrepentant mankind never finds the ultimate treasure because their eyes are darkened and blinded by sin. The treasures of this world surround us, and this is why the saints must keep their hearts, soul, and spirit directed to the treasure in heaven in the Lord Jesus Christ. In Colossians Chapter 3, we are exhorted to set our affections on things above, and not on things of the earth. There is no earthly treasury in heaven, for all the treasures of heaven are in the Person of Christ. All the treasuries of earth, all the offering of man, all the collection plates and bags of mammon cannot acquire the treasure which is in Jesus Christ. In Matthew Chapter 6, the Lord speaks to the very core of the religious person, how they, in their hypocrisy, continue a false narrative about themselves. Everything becomes a show of their self righteousness, and their activities of religion.
Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. (Matthew 6:16)
But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; (Matthew 6:17)
That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly. (Matthew 6:18)
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: (Matthew 6:19)
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: (Matthew 6:20)
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matthew 6:21)
The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. (Matthew 6:22)
But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! (Matthew 6:23)
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. (Matthew 6:24)
This section from the gospel of Matthew fits the Pharisees in John Chapter 8 that were railing against the Son of God. In Matthew Chapter 6, the Lord opens to us a secret place apart from the religiousness of mankind. This secret place is for His children, and they are to bring their homage, their desires, their spiritual life before their Savior and God in secret. When we fast, it is to be a secret between us and God. If we display ourselves openly, then we have lost the value of the secret place, and God will not look upon it. When anyone fasts, it is a burden on their flesh. We are denying our flesh the source of life; however, in denying the flesh, the Spirit is fed in the unseen world. The less the flesh the greater the spirit. And in the secret place we are embraced by the Oneness of God. It is the joy of the Spirit that radiates in the glory of our secret place. Some of the most difficult trials can be vanquished through prayer and fasting. It also opens your eyes to the tremendous burden Adam carries without Christ. Many times the saint fails by not seeing with the eyes of the Spirit. Once one has spent time in the secret place of God, one sees the terrible depravity of mankind.
He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him [were] dark waters [and] thick clouds of the skies. (Psalm 18:11)
Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah. (Psalm 81:7)
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalm 91:1)
In our position in this present evil world, in our day and time, the devil is working feverishly to remove God out of this world. The Lord made a statement concerning demons, that THIS KIND can only come out with prayer and fasting. This is very important to us today. Wherever you are (if you belong to the Lord Jesus Christ) no matter what country, city or town, the curtain has been drawn and the devil has come forth. He is about to put on his last play before the Lord’s return. There will be much suffering, and much pain in this world, but one thing will always remain, even in the most severe tribulation, there will still be a secret place where the Almighty God can be found. And what is done in secret one day will be openly revealed to you to give you the assurance of God’s guiding hand as in Matthew 6:22, The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. The eye is brought out as a vessel, and this eye delivers light into the body. The Lord is speaking about a deeper sight. He is speaking of the Spirit and the Light that the Spirit of God gives to illuminate the spirit and soul. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. (John 1:9) The Pharisees of John Chapter 8 would not accept nor believe the Light of the world: Jesus Christ. Their eye was not single, their sight had not light, they stumbled in the darkness, and therefore, they knew not the God of their salvation who stood before them in the manifestation of Jesus the Christ — and they would die in their sins.
I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. (John 8:24)
Amen.
