Giants in the Earth
Part vi
Anakims – Anak – Arba – Kirjatharba
I always begin any series with the understanding that you cannot miss time in class and expect to be successful if you do not make up for the lessons missed; therefore, if you are new to this series I suggest that you catch up. Who were the Anakims?
Scripture records the word ‘Anakims’ nine times, and of course, if you have been paying attention in class you would know that the number nine is the number of finality and judgment. Merely by reading these nine verses you can get a glimpse of who and what the Anakims were.
Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people [is] greater and taller than we; the cities [are] great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there. (Deuteronomy 1:28)
The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; (Deuteronomy 2:10) Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims. (Deuteronomy 2:11)
A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead: (Deuteronomy 2:21)
A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and [of whom] thou hast heard [say], Who can stand before the children of Anak! (Deuteronomy 9:2)
And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities. (Joshua 11:21) There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained. (Joshua 11:22)
Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims [were] there, and [that] the cities [were] great [and] fenced: if so be the LORD [will be] with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said. (Joshua 14:12)
And the name of Hebron before [was] Kirjatharba; [which Arba was] a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war. (Joshua 14:15)
Anak
The name Anakims is taken from the name of Anak. The Anakims were the people of Anak. Anak has two roots, long-necked, and neck chain; however, this is connected to conflict as in being strangled. The name is found in eight verses, but it is mentioned nine times. Here again, we have the number nine connected to the giants in the earth: finality and judgment tied together. As you read please be aware of what books are being quoted, and also be aware of the time frame. Actual physical giants existed for hundreds and hundreds of years as enemies of Israel, and warred against various tribes on both sides of the Jordan. They symbolize the spiritual and physical enemies of God, and of His people throughout time, and into our age: for example, the giants of financial control, the giants of propaganda media, the giants of political authority, the giants of religious power, the giants of celebrity influence, the giants of industry, the giants of data control, the giants of merchandising, the giants of technology fraud, and the tribes of giants in our realm today who viciously destroy, control, and enslave ‘the little people.’
And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, [were]. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.) (Numbers 13:22)
Nevertheless the people [be] strong that dwell in the land, and the cities [are] walled, [and] very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there. (Numbers 13:28)
And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, [which come] of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight. (Numbers 13:33)
A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and [of whom] thou hast heard [say], Who can stand before the children of Anak! (Deuteronomy 9:2)
And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, [even] the city of Arba the father of Anak, which [city is] Hebron. (Joshua 15:13)
And Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak. (Joshua 15:14)
And they gave them the city of Arba the father of Anak, which [city is] Hebron, in the hill [country] of Judah, with the suburbs thereof round about it. (Joshua 21:11)
And they gave Hebron unto Caleb, as Moses said: and he expelled thence the three sons of Anak. (Judges 1:20)
These verses reveal the family of the leader of the Anakims: Anak. This strangling chain around the neck of humanity was the son of Arba. Anak had three sons: Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai. We will deal with these three sons later, but now let us look at the original head of this particular tribe of giants by the name of Arba.
Arba
The name Arba is mentioned 3 times in all of Scripture, and only in the book of Joshua, the book of warfare and conflict. As I mentioned in the last article, the number 3 is connected to the Godhead, and it also connects to mankind, and to the trinity of evil; consequently, we should look at Arba and see the malformed giant twisted by the DNA of sin, thus the visible representation of evil. Read the following verses and learn. This would be a good spot to write about the meaning of the name of Arba. I probably will be doing a lot of meditating over this name because it means ‘four.’ WHAT! I do not believe that there is another name in all of Scripture that has the meaning of a number . . . wait, there is another name that is associated with a number . . . 6-6-6. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. (Revelation 13:18) The man of the giants, this leader, could have been named Arba (four) because he was related to three other giants. (But that is just my thinking, I have no scriptural backing for that thought). A giant named ‘Four’ — but, why? Let’s leave this for now, and go on . . . .
And the name of Hebron before [was] Kirjatharba; [which Arba was] a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war. (Joshua 14:15)
And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, [even]the city of Arba the father of Anak, which [city is] Hebron. (Joshua 15:13)
And they gave them the city of Arba the father of Anak, which [city is] Hebron, in the hill [country] of Judah, with the suburbs thereof round about it. (Joshua 21:11)
I truly understand the limitations that we all have with time trying to read Scripture, nevertheless, do not only just read the verses that I have selected, but also read the verses that are connected to these selections. Read all of Joshua Chapter 14, and 15 and Chapter 21, place yourself into the scenes, and learn.
Kirjatharba
Since Arba is connected to the city of Arba, Kirjatharba let us explore Kirjatharba (the city of Arba) in Scripture to further get an understanding of this giant called Arba. Through understanding the evils within the giant of Arba we may get a better understanding of the Arba’s within our society, and especially the threats, evils and sins with our Kirjatharba’s (the cities of Arba).
Side Note: Bad Men Doing Bad Things: Someone once said to me that they did not read the Bible because it was full of bad men doing bad things. Can you imagine this type of mentality? They probably have no problem watching TV, nor do they have problems with movies or listening to the words of many of the songs by celebrity giants because there are no bad men doing bad things on TV, or in movies, or writing about bad men doing bad things in the lyrics of songs sung by giants of the music industry. Yes, there are bad men doing bad things every day, but this is accepted and approved by viewers and listeners, but do not, I repeat — do not read in the book of God what He has to say about bad men doing bad things because in His book God does not pull any punches, God does not excuse evil men, but God judges and He wants ALL to know that evil men face His wrath and His judgment for their acts of sin. Since reading about bad men and bad things is a bad thing to do, how about reading about a man who never did a bad thing. How about reading about a man who was, and is, perfect. How about reading about a man sent by God to reveal to all bad men (all mankind) the goodness, grace and mercy of God.
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: (1 Peter 2:22)
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. (1 Timothy 3:16)
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, (Hebrews 1:1) Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; (Hebrews 1:2) Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (Hebrews 1:3)
Kirjatharba will teach us much about bad men doing bad things. I have no problem reading about bad men doing bad things because I know God is righteous and holy and ALL things are within His purpose, plan and control. The great part of reading the Word of God is that God shows us the many men and women who love their God and who placed their trust and their eternity into His hands.
The Word Kirjatharba Recorded Six Times
1. And Sarah died in Kirjatharba; the same [is] Hebron in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her. (Genesis 23:2)
2. And the name of Hebron before [was] Kirjatharba; [which Arba was] a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war. (Joshua 14:15)
3. And Humtah, and Kirjatharba, which [is] Hebron, and Zior; nine cities with their villages: (Joshua 15:54)
4. And they appointed Kedesh in Galilee in mount Naphtali, and Shechem in mount Ephraim, and Kirjatharba, which [is] Hebron, in the mountain of Judah. (Joshua 20:7)
5. And Judah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron: (now the name of Hebron before [was] Kirjatharba ) and they slew Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai. (Judges 1:10)
6. And for the villages, with their fields, [some] of the children of Judah dwelt at Kirjatharba, and [in] the villages thereof, and at Dibon, and [in] the villages thereof, and at Jekabzeel, and [in] the villages thereof, (Nehemiah 11:25)
I remind you once again that six is the number of man. What did you learn from these six verses? Here is a brief summary of these six verses. First, Sarah (Abraham’s beloved wife) died in Kirjatharba. Now, you know that this is interesting, and we definitely will be getting back to this point. Then, the next thing we learn is that Kirjatharba (the city of Arba) later became known as Hebron — another interesting point. Then, we noticed that Kirjatharba is listed in a particular group of cities in Joshua Chapter 15 as a group of nine cities, another interesting point. Next, in Joshua 20:7, we see that Kirjatharba was located in the mountain of Judah. Do you see it yet? Then in Judges Chapter 1, we are informed that the three grandchildren of Arba (the three sons of Anak) were slain in the city of Arba, Kirjatharba. And finally in the book of Nehemiah (hundreds and hundreds of years after Joshua’s battles with the giants) we are informed that the children of Judah were living in Kirjatharba. Why did the Spirit of God end with the name of Kirjatharba and not with the name of Hebron? WOW again! We definitely have much to chew on, but let us get on with the chewing.
Kirjatharba
A Field — A Cave — The Dead — The Burial
And Sarah died in Kirjatharba; the same [is] Hebron in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her. (Genesis 23:2) This is the first mention of Kirjatharba (the city of four).
And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old: these were the years of the life of Sarah. (Genesis 23:1)
And Sarah died in Kirjatharba; the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her. (Genesis 23:2)
And Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spake unto the sons of Heth, saying, (Genesis 23:3)
I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a buryingplace with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight. (Genesis 23:4)
And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him, (Genesis 23:5)
Hear us, my lord: thou art a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead. (Genesis 23:6)
And Abraham stood up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth. (Genesis 23:7)
And he communed with them, saying, If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight; hear me, and intreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar, (Genesis 23:8)
That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which is in the end of his field; for as much money as it is worth he shall give it me for a possession of a buryingplace amongst you. (Genesis 23:9)
And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth: and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying, (Genesis 23:10)
Nay, my lord, hear me: the field give I thee, and the cave that is therein, I give it thee; in the presence of the sons of my people give I it thee: bury thy dead. (Genesis 23:11)
And Abraham bowed down himself before the people of the land. (Genesis 23:12)
And he spake unto Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wilt give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there. (Genesis 23:13)
And Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him, (Genesis 23:14)
My lord, hearken unto me: the land is worth four hundred shekels of silver; what is that betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead. (Genesis 23:15)
And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant. (Genesis 23:16)
And the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the borders round about, were made sure (Genesis 23:17)
Unto Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that went in at the gate of his city. (Genesis 23:18)
And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre: the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan. (Genesis 23:19)
And the field, and the cave that is therein, were made sure unto Abraham for a possession of a buryingplace by the sons of Heth. (Genesis 23:20)
The first mention of Kirjatharba comes in the chapter at the death and burial of Sarah. I have included the entire 23rd Chapter of Genesis for your convenience, even though I want to just bring up a few points. This chapter tells us of a major event. This piece of ground was the only possession that Abraham ever owned. And it was for the dead in a place of the dead because Kirjatharba was a memorial set up by the spiritual dead to honor their deadness. They (giants and all spiritual dead) honor themselves by naming their cities, their possessions after their own names believing that they will always be remembered and honored. (The first city ever recorded in Biblical history was built by the first giant (Cain) to honor himself by naming this city after his son, Enoch). Therefore, Arba (Four) has a city named after himself: Kirjatharba. It is quite an interesting point that Abraham’s only earthly possession was to bury the dead, for God is not a God of the dead, but of the living. Jesus said, as documented in Mark’s gospel, Chapter 12, verses 26 and 27, And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? (Mark 12:26) He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err. (Mark 12:27)
Kirjatharba was the precise location to bury the dead because Arba (Four) was of the line of the originator (Cain) of the spiritual dead offering the curse as a proper sacrifice to God. Cain was completely insensitive to the things of God. Insensitive is a very mild word to describe Cain’s deadness of heart. How many ways can Cain be described? He KNEW what God required. He KNEW what sin had cost his parents. He KNEW where sin had place him. He KNEW (but did not care) what sin had cost all of humanity. He KNEW, and yet, Cain brought the very curse to God as his sacrifice as an offering for sin. Yes, insensitive is a very mild word to describe Cain; he was not only brain dead, but heart dead, and spiritually dead. And hundreds of years later (after the flood) the land inhabited by Cain’s descendants —the Anakims — the giants of the tribe of Arba — is the very place where the Spirit of God informs us that God’s servants, God’s chosen people, are buried in the land of the living dead. The only thing that this land was good for was to bury deadness. This piece of ground at Kirjatharba (the city of Four) became the burial ground of Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebekah, and Jacob and Leah, and lastly, Joseph: seven of God’s servants are buried in Kirjatharba. They were all buried in a cave in a field, not just any cave and not just any field. God doesn’t just bury His servants without a message. Everything in Scripture has meaning.
Kirjatharba
Ephron — Machpelah
The name of the location of the field of Ephron was in Machpelah. Please note that the meaning of Machpelah and Ephron is very appropriate in associating it with death. Ephron means ‘he of dust.’ The name Machpelah is taken from a number of roots: ‘he brought low the set apart’ and ‘doubling’ or ‘folded together.’
The field, and the cave, was owned by a man by the name of Ephron, and the son of Zohar, who was a Hittite. Abraham first approached Heth to act in this transaction. Heth, remember, was a direct descendant of Ham through Canaan. Also remember that the name of Heth means ‘a terror.’ At this stage in history, before Israel became a nation, Abraham lived not only among the giants, but he journeyed and camped among the enemies of God, the children of Ham, and the children of Cush. When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. (Proverbs 16:7) The meaning of the name of Ephron is quite appropriate for this burial ground because Ephron’s name means ‘he of dust.’ The name of his father Zohar means ‘whitening’ as in to dazzle, shine (not in a good sense, but in a self righteous outward appearance). ‘Whitening’ named his son ‘he of dust’ — a notable color shift, and a shift from self to an awareness of the finality of Adam in death.
And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7)
In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou [art], and unto dust shalt thou return. (Genesis 3:19)
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. (Ecclesiastes 12:7)
Machpelah is very appropriate for the name of this burial location: ‘he brought low the set apart’ and ‘doubling’ or ‘folded together.’ Yes, God ‘brought low the set apart.’ His people (Israel) were set apart for His glory to serve Him from all the nations, For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth. (Deuteronomy 14:2) And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine. (Leviticus 20:26) In Abraham God set His promises for a people, a nation set apart for His service, an earthly people, with an earthly inheritance, with an earthly mission, and an earthly future to be fulfilled in the millennial kingdom. Jehovah not only ‘brought low the set apart’ in death, but He ‘brought low the set apart’ to raise them up to be Priests and Ministers in His earthly reign. But ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves. (Isaiah 61:6)
And we, Christians, are also brought into the promises of God to Abraham (not as Israel, but as the Bride of Christ) to serve Him in the heavenlies. We are gathered to Him on earth, and we are folded together and united to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the new birth on earth to serve Him in the heavenlies. We are the children of His presence in heaven. In 1 Peter 2:9 we read, But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. (1 Peter 2:9) We too (as Israel) are designated as a separated people with a royal priesthood, a peculiar people to serve Him, but we are being prepared (on earth) to accomplish what we have been designed for, and that is to serve Him in the heavenlies. Israel is an earthly nation, the Church is a heavenly people from many nations, and the promises and the fulfillment are very often blurred as the church can only see the earth, and desires the things of the earth. We cannot have what strictly belongs to Israel, but we can understand that we are blessed through the blessings of Abraham.
And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 8:11)
Therefore [it is] of faith, that [it might be] by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, (Romans 4:16)
Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. (Galatians 3:7)
And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, [saying], In thee shall all nations be blessed. (Galatians 3:8)
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. (Galatians 3:14)
That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: (Ephesians 3:6)
The following verses are clearly a ‘folding together’ of all who are heirs according to the promise. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28) And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. (Galatians 3:29) That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; (Genesis 22:17)
Kirjatharba
The Field — The Cave
God provided for them (Abraham and his seed) in life and in death — Machpelah. As seven were placed in the cave, in the field, they were ‘folded together’ — united together through their belief and faith in the promises given to Abraham, and made righteous through their faith. Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. (Psalm 116:15) These seven (Abraham, Sarah, Isaac and Rebekah, and Jacob and Leah, and lastly, Joseph) were not only related by blood and by tribe, but they were heirs together through the promises given to Abraham.
In the land of giants, there was a particular piece of ground with a field and a cave, two very interesting descriptions: a field and a cave. Abel was murdered in a field. And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. (Genesis 4:8) The Lord Jesus in one His parables in Matthew 13:38 stated that the field represented the world, or was symbolic of the world.
Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (1 John 2:15)
For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (1 John 2:16)
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. (1 John 2:17)
The world is the field that we are born into, we become an active agent in this field working out our own desires and will, without thinking about the Creator of our field, and His will and His desires for His field and for His creatures: mankind. And yet, once we become a new creation through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, we become not only a new creature, but then our field becomes our enemy; not by our wishes or desires, but simply because the inhabitants of our field hates God, and hates His Christ, and through their hatred we too become hated. Nevertheless, we are to remember whom we serve, and whom we follow: If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before [it hated] you. (John 15:18) Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. (1 John 3:13)
Kirjatharba
Four Hundred — Silver
The field is occupied by giants, by enemies of God, we cannot escape from these giants, but we can bring to our field the silver of redemption, we can set before them the purchase price of our field: Jesus Christ. And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant. (Genesis 23:16) Four hundred shekels of silver was the purchase price of this field and for the cave in Kirjatharba, the city of Arba, the city of Four.
Why silver? Why four hundred and not three hundred and thirty? Let us briefly examine the number one hundred: this number is ten times ten. Ten is the number of God’s divine perfection in order, His completeness in order, thus one hundred is the epitome of his divine order, there is nothing better or beyond for all is complete. In this number of 400 shekels from Abraham to buy a field and a cave from Ephron, a Hittite, a member of the tribe of Heth, the ‘terrors’ of humanity we see the shadows of the ultimate price that God the Father paid (through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ) to purchase His redeemed. One hundred (ultimate perfection) to purchase a field (the world, the number 4). For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) Then in the number four we have the world, a ha . . . Arba! Four is not only symbolic of the world, but all that is in the world. Thus, Arba represents the world in all its evil, in all its destructive strength, in all its gigantic energy to dominant the world and the flesh by the forces of evil: Satan, the giant of sin and originator of sin.

Silver is symbolic of redemption. It was the price that was paid to the master when a servant was injured. If the ox shall push a manservant or a maidservant; he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned. (Exodus 21:32) The ultimate servant of God and the true servant of mankind was the Lord Jesus Christ. His total life was spent in servitude to His own creation, and to the will of God.
Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. (Hebrews 10:7)
That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, (Matthew 12:17) Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles. (Matthew 12:18)
Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. (Isaiah 42:1)
He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. (Isaiah 53:11)
The thirty pieces of silver (in the prophecy of Zechariah Chapter 11) speaks of the blood money given by the religious leaders (the priests) to Judas (the traitor) for the death of the Redeemer, and Judas’ attempt to return the money to the priests in the temple. The prophecy of Zechariah was made approximately 487 B.C. and fulfilled at the Lord’s death approximately 520 years later.
And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. (Zechariah 11:12)
And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD. (Zechariah 11:13)
Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, (Matthew 27:3)
Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. (Matthew 27:4)
And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. (Matthew 27:5)
And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. (Matthew 27:6)
And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in. (Matthew 27:7)

It wasn’t just by chance that Sarah died in Kirjatharba, in the land of the giants, in the land of Cain’s descendants, surrounded by a people named ‘terror,’ and ‘he of dust.’ We, like Sarah, and as Christians, are not only surrounded by people of terror, but we are engaged with death daily. We are living among those who have chosen the way of death, and who have refused The Way of Life in Jesus Christ.
Can more be written about Kirjatharba? Of course, there is much more about Kirjatharba; however, I will end this section of Part vi and the next article Giants in the Earth, Part vii will be about the second mention of Kirjatharba in Scripture. Hopefully, you have been supplied with enough to carry on with your own personal study.
The proof of God’s book written by God’s Spirit about God’s Christ can be seen in the power and mastery of how only one word can reach back into history thousands of years and connect with force and understanding, and at the same time that same word can also reach thousands of years into the future and even beyond into eternity. One word, one name, one action can contain thousands and thousands of messages, and lessons. Think on the following verses.
For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come. (Hebrews 4:12)
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. (John 5:39)
Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. (Luke 16:29)
Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book? (Psalms 56:8)
