Good Things to Come

Hebrews 10:1

For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. (Hebrews 10:1)

But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; (Hebrews 9:11)

Good Things to Come

ALL in Christ

As we search the scriptures, good things to come is only mentioned twice in the holy book. Both references are found in the book of Hebrews. One is concerning what we have or what comes through the blood of Christ in Hebrews 9, and in Hebrews 10, we have greater things then they had which were under the Law, our good things to come is in the Person of Jesus Christ. The hope of the redeemed is the fulfillment of all of God’s promises which are written in His divine word for within its pages are the treasures of life, and the greatest treasure of all is found in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is not only the Author of all the scriptures He is the Fulfiller of the scriptures that He has given. It is ONLY IN Christ, by His redemptive power, that one can find the abundance of life which is in Christ. Man in Adam looks every day for satisfaction in Adam’s race. However, sin has created within man a will that will not let him be satisfied. The restless nature of sin will not let man be content and therefore, causes all kinds of emotions within man because of sin. As the devil, sin is a destroyer. It attacks the inward man first, then it attacks the outward flesh, and when sin is done, it brings forth death. This leaves man, under Adam, with a lifetime of bondage to sin. Through sin man loses any moral compass, such as the Laws of God. Even the laws of God could not stop the sin within man for his sin and iniquity grew by generation. Those who have seen fifty or sixty years of humanity have seen the moral compass of nations evaporate and replaced with the host of satanic thoughts and actions. Even when God sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, man could not see the wonder, the beauty, the moral character and the divine deportment of God’s Christ in His righteous life. They could not behold the good things and the goodness of God. They could not comprehend the beauty of the express image of God in Jesus Christ. They had been offered the good things to come and rejected them for there was no love of the truth in them. For one to see into the mystery of the Godhead one must have the mind of Christ. There is no way that man can study the scriptures or comprehend them without the mind of Christ, and one cannot acquire the mind of Christ outside of Christ. One has to be IN Christ and Christ’s Spirit has to be within them.

There is a Man in heaven for us, a holy Man, a heavenly Man, a righteous Man with all purity of thought and divine will.

All good things to come have to come from above. The Creator in His sovereignty distributes and gives gifts to men, above all, these gifts must be in Christ the Lord who is the manifest image of God. Not only has He walked among men in His earthly image, but NOW this same Jesus is sat down upon His throne. There is a Man in heaven for us, a holy Man, a heavenly Man, a righteous Man with all purity of thought and divine will. And to know Him one must begin with the divine Gift from God, the divine gift of faith in Jesus Christ. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, in Ephesians 2:8 it is the gift of faith that leads one to the grace of God in Jesus Christ, and grace and truth came by Jesus Christ who is God’s Gift to us. Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. (John 4:10)

The book of Romans instructs us that one believes through the heart. The heart is the place of the sanctuary of man. The heart can be evil, or it can be good in Christ. Redemption through Jesus Christ brings a new heart, a new Spirit, and renews the soul. It’s with the heart that man believes, and then the Spirit of life which is in Christ Jesus, comes within that man and all things become new. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2nd Corinthians 5:17)

Good Things to Come

Knowledge of the Holy

Upon this supernatural act of God all things have become new. The believer is no more of this world he belongs to God and heaven above. He enters into the good things to come. When the believer opens his eyes and looks through the lens of grace for the first time, we see the man Christ Jesus, the anointed of God, the eternal Son of the Father with the power of an endless life. Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. (Hebrews 7:16) It is the Spirit of Christ that gives the new believer a thirst for the word of God. As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. (1st Peter 2:2) If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. (1st Peter 2:3) There is a desire within the newborn child of God that cannot be satisfied by anything less than the SINCERE milk of the Living and written word of God. It is the fullness of the mind of Christ through His eternal Spirit that we should learn and consume of Him for our spiritual welfare the word of God. As food gives our bodies nourishment and strength, it is the word of God that sustains and builds and strengthens the new creature in Christ. Without the word of God there can be no growth, and in many cases, without a true desire for the word of God the tree is most likely dead. Life in Christ is never dormant.

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. (John 15:1) Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. (John 15:2) Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. (John 15:3)

Those who have pruned fruit trees and vines know that there are some branches and vines that do not produce fruit. So, they are simply cut off and cast into the fire. Those who are born of Christ are attached to the true vine. He supplies all these branches with good things to come, and because we are heavenly people, our desires are of the heavenly Man and from the heavenly Man at the right hand of God. Most prayer today is for earthly blessings. This is so sad, for our prayers should be to cry out to heaven for all spiritual blessings in heavenly places. Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ: (Ephesians 1:3) Our knowledge and our enlightenment depend on the things of heaven and not of the things of the earth for the things above will not pass away, but the things of this world WILL pass away and WILL crumble at the feet of the righteous Son of God the Lord Jesus Christ. The very knowledge that we have from the scriptures IS good things to come. The Spirit of God in Colossians Chapter 3 teaches us to SEEK those things which are above, and to SET our affections where Christ is.

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. (Colossians 3:1) Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. (Colossians 3:2) For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:3) When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. (Colossians 3:4)

Remember that word desire in 1st Peter Chapter 2. As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. (1st Peter 2:2) From that desire we are instructed to SEEK those things which are above. The first word in Colossians of instruction is for us to SEEK, and to seek we must have the Spirit of Christ, and if we have the Spirit of Christ, we will SEEK those things which are above. This formula has not changed throughout the entire word of God. Draw nigh unto God, and he will draw nigh unto you. Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: (Isaiah 55:6) Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [ye] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [ye] double minded. (James 4:8) We need to see that God is a rewarder of those who seek Him, that seek out the good things to come in Jesus Christ. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6) And who is this that we seek? He is the Creator of all things, He is the manifest image of God, He is the image of the invisible God, He is the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. He is the great Redeemer of man. He is the good Shepherd of the sheep. And who are WE? We are the children of God by His divine calling and good and perfect will. We are the sheep of His pasture, and He knows every one of us by name, and we bring the message to a dying world, Seek the truth, for the truth will set you free. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (John 8:32)

Good Things to Come

The Law of Liberty

The Law of Liberty has freed us from sin and death; however, it also holds us accountable to the Law of Faith.

We already have many good things in Christ. And yet there are many more good things to come. In Christ Jesus, we already have the perfect Law of Liberty. We are His servants; yet our new birth gives us freedom in the Law of Liberty. The Law of Liberty removes us from the encumbrances of this wicked world. The Law of Liberty has freed us by the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus which has freed us from the Law of Sin and Death. The Law of Liberty allows us to accept our position before Christ as both children and sons. The Law of Liberty gives us the desire of obedience to Christ. We do the work of God as a joyful child before his Father. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. (James 2:15) So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. (James 2:12) The Law of Liberty has freed us from sin and death; however, it also holds us accountable to the Law of Faith. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. (Romans 3:27) 2:12)

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. (James 2:17) Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. (James 2:18) Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. (James 2:19) But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? (James 2:20)

These are the fundamental Laws of God NOT written on tables of stone.

#1 The Law of Sin and Death.

This was first given to Adam and Eve in the garden. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2)

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (Romans 5:12)

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. (Genesis 2:17)

#2 The Law of Faith

This was given to Abel as we find in Hebrews 11:4, By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. (Romans 3:27)

#3 The Law of Life.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2)

#4 The Law of Liberty.

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. (James 1:25) So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. (James 2:12)

From the moment that man sinned at the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, the Law of Sin and Death began with all of mankind and is a continual witness to us today with the death of all men. God then gave the Law of Faith. This Law of Faith was given to remove man from the ordinances and corruptions of this world. This was first given to Abel, and Abel was the first seed of hope of good things to come. And the Law of Faith is a gift from God so that man can enter into the divine hope which is in Jesus Christ. Many claim to have faith, but if it is ALL mouth without works and without spiritual intelligence then that faith is dead, and that soul remains stricken by the Law of Sin and Death. Faith is linked to the Law of Life in the Spirit of Christ Jesus which in turn gives the Law of Liberty to the child of God to serve His master without the guilt of his sinful past or who he was before the transaction of his new birth. It is quite evident that the scriptures tell us that when we are born of the Spirit of life IN Christ Jesus and that we have died IN Him. Paul gives us two examples: one in Galatians 2:20, and the other in Galatians 6:14, I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20) But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. (Galatians 6:14) The Law of Liberty is a GOOD THING for the child of God. It has set us free from the constraints and obstacles of the world. (Hebrews 4:16)

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (Colossians 2:8) What does this mean? We are NOT bound by man’s theology; we are FREE in the very truth of God. Thy word is truth from the beginning, and the One who gave the word is the very essence of the word, for in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made for He SPOKE the worlds into existence.

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. (Hebrews 11:3)

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (John 1:3)

Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; (Hebrews 1:2)

The Law of Liberty is with us at all times. We, being the children of God, have the liberty to do good and right against the Law of Sin and Death by the gospel that has been committed unto us from the Lord Jesus to draw men out of darkness into the marvelous Light of Christ. With this Law of Liberty we stand before God at any time, place or circumstance. God through Faith and the Law of Liberty has opened the door to His presence twenty-four hours a day and forever. The throne of grace is open to us at all times, and He actively sits upon that throne to help us in our every spiritual need. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4:15) Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)

Good Things to Come

The Open Door

These are GOOD THINGS for now, and we enjoy them when we seek those things which are above. The second word of instruction in Colossians Chapter 3 is SET your affections. The affections take place in the heart. Set those affections in the heart on the things above. In the gospel according to John, the apostle rested his head upon the bosom of God. John heard the heartbeat of creation, and heaven and earth was and is upheld by every heartbeat of Christ Jesus our Lord. John knew the affections of Christ for him, and he returned those affections for his Lord. John showed his love of His Creator in such a manner, in such a strength, that when he was imprisoned on the Isle of Patmos in physical banishment and in spiritual solitude, that bosom opened a door in heaven for John, thus, the Lord Jesus allowed John to see into the heavenly realm and earthly realm the things that must shortly come to pass. As John was in the presence of Christ in heaven above, time was no longer. Time stood still as John saw the panorama of time in the world of Adam through the eyes of eternity of the Almighty God. John saw the communion of heaven above with the earth below. The love that John had for the Man Christ Jesus was the same love that opened the door to heaven.

Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? (John 21:20)

Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? (John 21:21)

Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. (John 21:22)

Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? (John 21:23)

This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.  (John 21:24)

∼

After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. (Revelation 4:1)

Seek those things which are above and set your affections on Him who is above: the Lord Jesus Christ.

Good Things to Come

Joint Heirs and Inheritance

Another wonder of our salvation is that God the Father has translated us INTO the kingdom of His dear Son . . . how wonderful.

Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: (Colossians 1:12) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: Colossians 1:13) In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: (Colossians 1:14) Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: (Colossians 1:15)

You have been made part of the kingdom of God’s dear Son. This is truly a GOOD THING, for being accepted IN the beloved, which is Christ, God the Father has translated us NOW and FOREVER into the kingdom of His Son. Another GOOD THING that we have, we have a joint inheritance with Christ and with the saints in light. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. (Romans 8:17) Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: (Colossians 1:12) This heirship and inheritance with Christ is bound together BY God in Hebrews 1:2, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds. This inheritance is linked to the very name of Jesus Christ. We find this in Hebrews Chapter 1, verse 4, that He received His name by the right of inheritance. Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. (Hebrews 1:4) Now let me finish this thought, God addresses the world with Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. And we, as the children of God, have been begotten of God to be MADE like His Son . . . we will be like Him.

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. (1st John 3:1) Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. (1st John 3:2)

When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. (Colossians 3:4)

You see many of our blessings in Christ Jesus have already been fulfilled. We have received GOOD THINGS from the hand of God, and there are GOOD THINGS TO COME. Think of Abel, the first beholder of faith. He looked into the curtain of time, and he saw the GOOD THINGS TO COME. Think of Enoch, the seventh from Adam, when Enoch stated as he looked by faith to the GOOD THINGS TO COME, as he prophesied that the Lord would come with ten thousand of His saints. Think of Noah as the darkness of the storm approached, and God closed Noah and those who were with him in the ark. It was God who closed the door of the ark. It was God who told the world, It is finished. It was Christ on the cross who opened the door with the words, It is finished. Noah trusted God for GOOD THINGS TO COME, and God declared to Noah a new world through His bow in the clouds.

Good Things to Come

With Him in Glory

Let’s look at the fullness of our redemption of the GOOD THINGS which are TO COME. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then we, the redeemed, shall appear with Him IN GLORY.

And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. (John 17:10)

And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: (John 17:22) I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. (John 17:23)

And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them. (John 17:26)

This same glory that same love is just as strong for His own today as it was in the day of His high priestly prayer documented in Chapter 17 of the gospel of John as He lifted up His eyes to heaven and looked upon the Father’s face. These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: (John 17:1) Read the entire priestly prayer of the Lord Jesus and meditate on this wonderful intimacy between the Son of God and His heavenly Father. What desire Christ had to fulfill the Father’s will. Christ prayed that we would have that same desire, and when Christ shall appear then we will appear with Him IN His glory . . . GOOD THINGS TO COME.

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. (John 14:1)

In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (John 14:2)

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (John 14:3)

And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. (John 14:4)

Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? (John 14:5)

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)

The road to the Father’s house has already been paved with the blood of Christ. How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 9:14) Christ offered Himself through the eternal Spirit. This is the ONLY time in Scripture that the eternal Spirit is mentioned. This encompasses the totality of the Spirit of God, and Christ offered Himself THROUGH the eternal Spirit. We should also notice the relationship to the beginning of this verse TO this eternal Spirit in the very words, How much more. This shows us the completeness of God’s Son sacrificing Himself on the cross of Calvary that there cannot be any more or anything added for ALL COMPLETE in this verse. Nothing can be added, and nothing can be taken away or deleted, IT IS FINISHED. For Christ has fulfilled ALL the Father’s will, and He has offered Himself a TRUE OFFERING to God through the eternal Spirit: how well this fits with Hebrews 7:16 and Romans 8:2, Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. (Hebrews 7:16) For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Roman’s 8:2)

Good Things to Come

The Eternal Spirit Within

God has not only given us the Comforter, the Spirit of God, but He has given us the power in His eternal Spirit. We have become part of the eternal power of life in Christ Jesus, and have the eternal Spirit, the Spirit of Christ within. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. (Galatians 4:6) This eternal Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me FREE from the Law of Sin and Death. Hallelujah. Consider the days of the apostles, and then travel through time to our present day, how many precious souls have enjoyed knowing and being part of good things to come. Christ died for the many (as the stars in the sky) the Spirit of God did not calculate the number of those who would be redeemed but leaves it for us to have the compassion with the gospel to call out to a world that is lost in sin with the Spirit of life which is in Christ Jesus. When Enoch prophesied in Genesis (although it is recorded in the book of Jude) as he walked with God, Enoch told the world that the Lord was going to come with ten thousand of His saints. And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, (Jude 1:14) To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. (Jude 1:15) John (in the book of the Revelation) saw the count of the hundred and forty-four thousand, twelve thousand from every tribe of Jacob, yet we, the children of God from the days of the apostles, wait for the number of the saints in the conclusion of God’s great epic of man’s redemption. As the stars in the night, and as the sands of the sea, all have a name given by Christ. As Jeremiah was known before, he was in his mother’s womb, we have been known of God since He wrote His book of names in the book of life.

Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, (Jeremiah 1:4)

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. (Jeremiah 1:5)

Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. (Jeremiah 1:6)

But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. (Jeremiah 1:7)

Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD. (Jeremiah 1:8)

Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. (Jeremiah 1:9)

See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant. (Jeremiah 1:10)

∼

For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13)

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. (Psalm 139:14)

My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. (Psalm 139:15)

Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. (Psalm 139:16)

How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! (Psalm 139:17)

∼

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. (Hebrews 11:3)

Good Things to Come

Sealed and Secure for Eternity

As the child of God travels through life, he is part of the SEEN and of the UNSEEN, having a presence in both realms. On our part, we see our presence in the world: on God’s part, He not only sees our presence in the world, but our presence in His sight and in the UNSEEN dominion. We live before angels, and they wonder at our redemption. We, as the redeemed of the Lord, live in the presence of good things to come. Scriptures from both Hebrews 9:11 and 10:1 have a great impact in our present spiritual life for we have a joy within us knowing that God has accomplished all for us even our Lord Jesus Christ experienced the joy that was set before Him when He endured the cross knowing in His foreknowledge ALL the GOOD THINGS TO COME. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2) Think of the time period that the Lord Jesus waited for the good things to come. Although He knew them in His foreknowledge that He would experience His sacrificial life in the fullness of time. From the foundation of the world our Lord waited for the good things to come. When He was manifest on earth from a child to the cross, His whole earthly life the cross was set before Him. And in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ we find that this same cross was BEFORE Him from the foundation of the world. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.  (Revelation 13:8) As He was laying the foundation of the world (And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands – Hebrews 1:10) Christ KNEW from the foundation of the world, BEFORE man’s existence, that time had set a date for Him on the cross of Calvary to be the Redeemer of man by sacrificing Himself for the sin of the whole world for the joy that was set before Him, and the good things to come. Therefore, we are blessed today in Christ. We have all this scriptural and spiritual knowledge revealed to us by the Spirit of Christ in the days of our sojourn here on earth. We KNOW (in our present life) that we are part of the good things to come.

When the Lord imparted His Spirit within me, that day, that hour, that minute, that second of my redemption He already KNEW me. Was I a child of Adam? Yes. Was I in the flesh? Yes. Did I have the spirit of man within me? Yes. Was I a sinner? Yes. These four dimensions kept me fromgood things to come. But FAITH walked into my heart in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ and revealed the Gift of God to my heart, soul and spirit. I was as a brand plucked out of the fire, a soul that watched darkness depart as a scroll, a finite being turned into an infinite being. The spirit of man became the Spirit of Christ, and the desires of heaven became my desire in Jesus Christ. All things became new, and the new things have been sealed by Christ Himself.

For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. (2nd Corinthians 1:20) Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; (2nd Corinthians 1:21) Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. (2nd Corinthians 1:22)

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2nd Corinthians 5:17) And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; (2nd Corinthians 5:18) To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. (2nd Corinthians 5:19)

In 2nd Corinthians, we see the presence in our own lives of the good things to come, today and tomorrow, as we grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. These are good things for the present, and good things to come. God has also shown us that we are SEALED by His Spirit and that we ARE covered from our sin by the blood of Christ, which HE offered through the eternal Spirit. But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building. (Hebrews 9:11) This same Spirit has SEALED me once and for all with the precious thought when I see the blood, I will pass over you (Exodus 12:13). We have been reconciled through the Christ of God for the joy that was set before Him THIS anointed One with the power of an endless life redeemed us to God for ALL eternity. And He has promised us, all the redeemed, in the promises to Abraham that our number will be as the stars in heaven. And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. (Genesis 15:5) Abraham embraced the good things to come. We have proof of this in John Chapter 8:56, Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. As we looked forward to the coming of God’s Christ in His catching up the Church into glory and then coming with Him as He claims His millennial kingdom on earth, we have that same joy that Abraham experienced when the Lord Jesus revealed the fullness of time to Abraham. We see in the future, at any time, Christ will come for His Church, and we wait patiently for the day when WE will be in His presence forever. Abraham embraced the promises of God by FAITH. The same faith that WE as the children of God hold on to in Jesus Christ, who is the Author and Finisher of our faith. He is the beginning of faith and the Fulfiller of all faith in Him, and He upholds that faith by the word of His power.

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;  (Hebrews 1:3)

Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. (Matthew 22:29)

Good Things to Come

We Will Sit With Him in His Throne

Good things to come . . . ‘I will show you the past, present, and future of mankind. I will show you things that were, and things that are, and things which are to come.’ This is the message to God’s servants from the Revelation of Jesus Christ in Chapter 1. We have this revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave unto His dear Son. This whole revelation belongs to Christ, the anointed of God, and this very revelation WAS and IS being shown unto His servants yesterday, today, and forever . . . the good things to come. Now, we, as the redeemed, will sit down with Him in His throne as the overcomers holding divine faith. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. (Revelation 3:21) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. (Revelation 3:22)

And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. (Matthew 19:28)

That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. (Luke 22:30)

Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? (1st Corinthians 6:2) Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? (1st Corinthians 6:3) If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. (1st Corinthians 6:4)

If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: (2nd Timothy 2:12)

These scriptures show us good things to come. However, these good things will come through the battle of life against both the spirit of Satan and the spirit of man.

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. (1st Peter 5:7) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (1st Peter 5:8) Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. (1st Peter 5:9) But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. (1st Peter 5:10) To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (1st Peter 5:11)

These words of the Spirit of God are to touch deeply into our heart, soul and spirit. We are in unfriendly territory. We are IN a present evil world where both Satan and sin reign. It is THEY, the world, who kicked out our King. And they afflict us daily because of our life in Christ. Under Adam, all men have a heart that is wicked, desperately wicked, it is a heart of deceit, and the very words that man speaks comes from that deceitful heart. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:9) Man does not realize the depth of deceitfulness because of sin neither does man realize that God still has the power to search the heart of man, and to try his reins, and to reward man according to his evil with the judgments of God according to the fruit of his doings, nor his way of life in sin. I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. (Jeremiah 17:10)

We have been given, as the redeemed of the Lord, the gospel of reconciliation. We are to preach, teach, write and to act according to that gospel. We can act one on one, or with all manners of communications, however, the Spirit of God must guide ALL ministry, and only through His guidance can we minister the truth of the word of God to the sons of man. All must be reconciled through the faith which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20) The Lord Jesus knew of our battles. He knew that we would go against a great host of unbelief and darkness. This is why the Holy Spirit of God in Chapter 6 of the book of Ephesians presents to us the whole armor of God. I want you to realize that this armor is a heavenly armor, and it is NOT of this world. It is what God has given to us so that we might stand in an evil day when lies, deceit and betrayal are considered normal in all of society, and we, as the children of God, have to fulfill our servitude to Christ. These words concerning the armor of God in Ephesians 6 are from the voice of our Redeemer THROUGH His Spirit.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. (Ephesians 6:10)

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:11)

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12)

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (Ephesians 6:13)

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; (Ephesians 6:14)

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; (Ephesians 6:15)

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (Ephesians 6:16)

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: (Ephesians 6:17)

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; (Ephesians 6:18)

And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, (Ephesians 6:19)

For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. (Ephesians 6:20)

Is not this the largest battlefield? Is not this the greatest conflict that demanded the greatest cost, and will reveal the greatest glory of good things to come? In Ephesians 6, the Holy Spirit of God knows just what we need in order to stand in an evil day. We should remember that since the death and resurrection and ascension of Christ, the world is covered with the darkness of sin and evil.

All these articles of armor are the fundamentals of our warfare. And we need to embrace the importance of the armor of God with all spiritual presence and precepts that we might WAR against the children of evil, and against the evil one himself: Satan, who is actively trying to devour those who walk with Christ.

The first aspect of our warfare is our training, and how do we train? Scripture tells us to be strong in the Lord. And where did our Lord Jesus Christ get His strength? His strength came by communing with the Father of lights and perfection. We receive instruction and training through the scriptures presented to us by the Spirit of God. Every good and perfect gift comes from above. And before we put on the armor of God, we MUST be spiritually strong IN Christ for as we represent Him, we must hold up His majesty, His glory, and the wonder of the power of our great Savior the Lord Jesus Christ. We rest IN Him and IN the power of His might for He is able through the scriptures to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12) According to Hebrews 4:12 it is the power of God’s word THROUGH the Spirit that directs us and discerns the thoughts and intents of our heart. Through the power of the Spirit of God we resist the works of the devil for the spirit of the devil is a devouring spirit, and to fight against this spirit you must put on the WHOLE armor of God. The wiles of the devil take in ALL evil and spiritual wickedness of this world. This is also the collective, the accumulative evil that grows as weeds and tares, and Satan is joined to the goats of wickedness which are the children of Cain who was of that wicked one, Satan himself.

Cain was the first seed of the serpent. Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous. (1st John 3:12) There is not one battle, but many battles for the evil spirit of Satan goes to and fro throughout the whole earth. He is seeking to devour, to overcome that which is good. He has enmity in his being against God and against every child of God. We have battles within ourselves to stay on the right path lit by the word of God, and then we have the battles with our foes who use ALL guile to deceive us and the biggest deception of all is how they pervert the word of God. Therefore, if we are going to stand in an evil day, we must put on the whole armor of God. Thus, we need to examine the battlefield, and realize the spiritual warfare that we are up against. The Spirit of God tells us in verse 12 of Ephesians Chapter 6 that our battle is NOT against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. This is a great armada against us and only the Captain of the ship, the Lord Jesus Christ, can go before us in this great conflict for the souls of men. So, the stage is set, the battlefield lies before us, all things seem impossible, BUT with our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE. For with God nothing shall be impossible. (Luke 1:37)

The evil spirit of Satan, the devil, the old serpent, the prince of the power of the air has many cohorts and counterfeits in this world, however, we should not be frightened, for greater is He that is in us then he that is in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (1st John 4:4) So we need to be able to identify his cohorts and the counterfeits of Satan. Once again, in 1st John we are given the formula: the means of examination for those of the truth and of those of error. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. (1st John 4:5) We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. (1st John 4:6)

One thing that we should be aware of is that the word ‘commandment’ is put aside in the Church today. However, in John’s 1st epistle, the word commandment is mentioned seven (7) times through four (4) verses and the word commandments are mentioned seven (7) times throughout six (6) verses, for a total of fourteen (14) mentions in ten (10) verses. The Spirit of God gives us the number seven (7) twice which is the number of perfection doubled, we also see the number of verses in being ten (10) which again reminds us of The Law and commandments for the total verses in the number fourteen, thus showing us that it is the commandments in the number ten and that those commandments are for the world, in the number four.

In 1st John Chapter 4, the Spirit of God within us speaks the words of Christ. If the world will not hear us, then they are NOT of God. This is a good platform to examine the counterfeits of Satan. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. (1st John 4:6) This is how we stand in THIS EVIL WORLD in THIS EVIL DAY. We must do ALL to stand . . . leave nothing out. You have God’s power within, and the Spirit of Christ is on your side.

The first element of our armor is found in Ephesians 6:14, Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; (Ephesians 6:14) The first article is truth for truth must be the first defense against ALL evil, and that truth is IN Him, the Lord Jesus, who is ALL truth. For grace and truth came by Jesus Christ; therefore, it is the truth that set us free, and the truth must be our first line of defense. The Spirit of God instructs us to gird up our loins in truth for this is the place of man’s power with the Spirit of truth for we have been given the Comforter, the Spirit of God, to lead us into ALL truth. For our protection we must cover our heart with the breastplate of righteousness for Christ has been made unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption. As we saw in Jeremiah 17, it is the heart of man that is the seat of man’s wickedness. And yet God examines the heart first, He tries the reins or heart of man, man believes unto righteousness with the heart. And the righteousness of Christ is imparted to the newborn child of God with the Spirit of God within his heart. So, the breastplate of righteousness covers the heart from outward attack and preserves the heart by the inward dwelling of the Spirit of God.

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. (Ephesians 6:15) We are all aware of the footprints that the Lord Jesus left here on earth, and how He exhorted us to pick up the cross and to follow in those footprints. We need to watch where we walk. We need to keep the word of God as a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Thy word [is] a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119:105) We walk in the light of Christ, and we become the light into this world with the gospel of peace. Consequently, we declare into the world the message of life and death. I come to show you life . . . choose this day life or death. The gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ belongs to the One who created heaven and earth. We are His ambassadors bought with His blood. He fought for us in both the SEEN and in the UNSEEN of His sacrificial death upon the cross of Calvary. Now we pick up that fight. We offer to the world peace with God to as many as receive Him, who are not born of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man but of God through God the Holy Spirit. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (John 1:12) Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:13)

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (John 3:6) Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. (John 3:7) The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (John 3:8)

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (Ephesians 6:16) We have the shield of faith. Remember, FAITH is the substance of things hoped for. It is the evidence of things NOT seen. (Hebrews 11:1) So the shield of faith is that tangible object of faith and we arrive by FAITH into the family of God for we are under the Law of Faith. (Romans 3:27). We are under the fullness of Faith for Christ is the Author and Finisher of faith and the shield of faith confirms to us ALL the promises of God and these promises are kept by the shield of faith against all unbelief in this wicked world. The shield of faith has upon it the emblem of the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ as a symbol of faith in His blood.

Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. (1st Peter 1:2)

And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. (Hebrews 12:24)

How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 9:14)

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; (1st Peter 1:18) But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: (1st Peter 1:19)

And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; (Revelation 5:9)

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; (Romans 3:25)

These are some of the elements of the shield of faith. The Law of Faith began with Abel who was the first partaker of God’s faith offered by the Lord Jesus Christ. And through Abel’s faith he offered a more perfect sacrifice looking FORWARD to the good things to come. Abel’s faith was a divine window to the fullness of time when Christ, the anointed of God with the oil of gladness, would offer Himself as that shield of faith and shed His precious blood for those of His redeemed. And we take that shield of faith IN His blood and declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past through the determinate counsels and foreknowledge of God through His forbearance through His grace and His divine love. For God is NOT willing that ANY should perish. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2nd Peter 3:9) Again, the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is the gospel of life, and it is also the gospel of death.

For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: (2nd Corinthians 2:15) To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? (2nd Corinthians 2:16)

See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; (Deuteronomy 30:15)

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: (Deuteronomy 30:19)

When we embrace the Law of Faith and the goodness of God in Jesus Christ, the evil one, the prince of this world musters up his forces against us. Here is the fortitude of faith, remember that Satan has the world on his side, it is a PRESENT EVIL WORLD, it is a world of darkness with spiritual wickedness in high places.

The political side of this world will condemn you for your faith in Jesus Christ – that is one fiery dart. The economic system will condemn you for walking IN and BY faith – that is two fiery darts. The dark side of this world condemns you for you are of the light in Christ and they cannot abide that light – that’s three fiery darts. The spiritual wickedness condemns you for not agreeing with their spiritual wickedness – that is four fiery darts. The counterfeit church condemns you for not swallowing their lies – that is five fiery darts. The ministers of Satan condemn you for standing up against them with the shield of faith and the truth of the word of God – that is six fiery darts. These darts are all launched from wickedness in high places.

To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, (1st Peter 1: 4) Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. (1st Peter 1: 5) Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: (1st Peter 1: 6) That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: (1st Peter 1: 7) Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: (1st Peter 1: 8)

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: (1st Peter 4:12) But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. (1st Peter 4:13) If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. (1st Peter 4:14)

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: (Ephesians 6:17) The helmet of salvation . . . there have been many types of helmets to protect the mental stability of the warrior in battle. The helmet has been used in many fields, in sports, and even in space travel, but the helmet of salvation is the greatest helmet of all. With it, the child of God, maintains his spiritual continuity and his conscience before God. The child of God submits his thoughts to the will of God’s righteousness. When the world denies you of your service for God, the helmet of salvation (with its assurance) directs you in God’s path and in God’s service. The helmet is marked with the power of Christ, and the power of the cross to keep you mind SET on the purchase price that God gave for that helmet of salvation that He has given you life from above. The helmet of salvation is also a mind of defense. For the mind is first attacked before the heart is attacked. What Lot SAW and HEARD in Sodom vexed his righteous soul. The helmet of salvation filters thoughts to our hearts. Therefore, we must have the mind of Christ. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 2:5) So you see that this helmet, this spiritual helmet, guards against evil thoughts and allows your mind to be stayed on Christ.

In verse 17 of Ephesians 6 we move from a defensive position to an offensive position with the same Spirit of holiness that gave the word and preserves it. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: (Ephesians 6:17)

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. (1st Peter 1:23)

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. (Matthew 4:4)

The sword of the Spirit is the word of God. Words would mean nothing without the force of the Holy Spirit of God behind them giving His attention to the truth of every word, every line, and every precept. The sword of the Spirit of the word of God is a mighty weapon against evil.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12) Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. (Hebrews 4:13)

And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. (Revelation 19:13) And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. (Revelation 19:14) And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. (Revelation 19:15) And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. (Revelation 19:16)

We cannot say or write enough about the written and Living Word for all the thoughts of God to man are encompassed in His holy word. God’s thoughts are revealed in the Word of God both in heaven and in earth. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven. (Psalm 119:89) The testimony of the Lord Jesus (when on earth) proclaimed that His words were spirit and life. It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. (John 6:63) Much more can be said about the supernatural Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, and His supernatural book. As you study the scriptures, the armor, the words themselves become part of you, and they give you understanding by the Spirit of God and the mind of Christ. All doubts fade into the light of Christ. He gives His word to the simple, simple in life, not simple in thought for the workman knows his tools, and those tools perfect his work.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2nd Timothy 2:15)

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. (2nd Timothy 3:15) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (2nd Timothy 3:16) That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. (2nd Timothy 3:17)

Good things . . . . the Lord Jesus has given us and much more . . . . good things to come. The last part of the address in Ephesians Chapter 6 is the garment of Eleazar, the priest, the robe of righteousness and truth, and the power of all supplication entering into battle for others, condemning the evil and upholding the truth through fervent prayer.

And Moses said unto the judges of Israel, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baalpeor. (Numbers 25:5)

And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. (Numbers 25:6)

And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand; (Numbers 25:7)

And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel. (Numbers 25:8)

And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand. (Numbers 25:9)

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, (Numbers 25:10)

Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy. (Numbers 25:11)

Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace: (Numbers 25:12)

And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel. (Numbers 25:13)

∼

Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them. (Psalm 106:29) Then srood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed, (Psalm 106:30) And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore. (Psalm 106:31)

We have been given all these articles of truth that we might be able to stand in an evil day. We belong to the same Body that cannot be divided, and this armor is for our conflict with the world, and with all spiritual wickedness in high places starting with the counterfeit church that boasts itself as the voice of God and the vicar of Christ under many names and premises, but we come before you with the sword of the Lord and the Spirit of truth. Amen.
